I'm looking to buy a beginners telescope, my budget is about £150. I don't wanna spend too much too soon. Does anyone have one? Any tips for buying one? I wanna go star gazing.

Beautiful night in the DMV. I can see Venus with my eyes but my telescope is so flabby. I should have copped that Celestron 8" Dobsonian when I had the urge

The sky is absolutely amazing tonight :wow:

Definitely research the various types, eyepieces, reviews, and prices. I bought one meant for the last eclipse, so no need for an extra solar filter and it was rather cheap. I added an eyepiece next to the two it came with and some cheap filters.

Tone down your expectations. Earth-bound scopes can only do so much unless you invest a lot of $$$.

Thanks. I just want something to point and look. I know nothing about solar filters and what to expect. I may just end up buy a Jack of all trades marginally acceptable one because I don't know any better.

Good post! I want one too, preferably a "beginners" but capable of seeing beyond our solar system.

I don't think a beginners one for a low price will be able to see Saturn with a great detail much less beyond our solar system.

Depends. You trying to look at the stars, or you trying to peep into your neighbor’s window?

Thanks OP for this thread. I spent many a cold night looking through my telescope as a kid. It was somehow lost when my parents moved out of their old house into their current one after I moved out. I had a red Tasco. I need to get a new one.
