I was wrong, shyt is trash
Two major pet peeves I have in any fiction(there are others but these are prominent here)...
1. Actions that break the established world logic
2. Actions that break basic "common sense" given immediate circumstances
A lot of it here seems to stem from "style over substance" issues and suspected political pandering issues.
I.E. the director/writer wanting to depict certain scenes so bad they ignore how those scenes fit the larger (world narrative / immediate context)
This show does that shyt in spades

Fantasy, Sci fi, adventure, weird other dimensional type stuff !!!
(As an African man this the kinda stuff I wanna see and gotta support)
(Please God don't let them fukk it up with agenda politics ...I'll be satisfied with just a dope story and action at this point)
EDIT:
This premise is great! The way I'd attack this setup...
Have an other denominational demon, with his layer guarded by those hounds, while the larger town populous are mind controlled to bring the demon sacrifices.
- Chicago family man goes to hometown down south visiting family but doesn't come back
- Son goes down south to find missing father and meets girl who warns him about the state of affairs in their family home town.
- They encounter the mind controlled people in the town while hunting for info on the father.
- They are constantly stalked by the possessed while following up leads on the fathers last known location.
- After finding a solid lead the Guy and Girl sneak out of town to the location in the woods.
- They encounter hounds and demon layer in the woods after following the tip from the town.
- They find out the demon is the lost father who was the first person possessed by the demon residing in an ancient [insert item here].
- Guy and Girl free father from the [insert item here]/demon.
EDIT 2:
As long as it isn't an established franchise with preexisting characters and story arcs(star trek & star wars) J.J. Abrams is on good terms wit me
All of of his production company's stand alone projects that i've seen I've enjoyed.
Besides, I trust JJ production company to handle the special effects and procurement/setup of the period piece assets as that's not really in Peeles wheel house.
