I went to a Rave last night

Damn some of you guys are marginally minded.

I'm black and I fit into that scene aptly, anyone can fit into that scene. Stop viewing yourself through the lens of other people sometimes. I haven't been to a major festival like EDC, Ultra, or CounterPoint yet, but I've been to dubstep & house shows, I've enjoyed myself. Obviously though, if you're digging the music in the first place, and that's the the major catalyst for your reason in going, everything else will be an attributing bonus.

my ears can't adjust to them techno beats. What are these "soulful" beats?

Can't get mad at ya for the way your ears respond to things, happens to me too, I actually want to study that shyt and dig deeper into the concept.

Soulful might not have been the correct term, but there's more emotion I feel in deep house tracks than mainstream songs. More of a darker vibe, I like that feel more. Similar kind of structure, you can recognize familiar beat patterns and shyt, but the aura of the tracks are a lot chiller to me, a young ninja likes chillin.

I'm really glad you brought up how your ears adjust to music though, I don't think that aspect of discussion is highlighted enough when talking about music is involved. I can't, and won't force anyone to enjoy something that my ears respond positively to, just ain't meant to be. The atmospheric qualities of these tracks really resonate well with me, I love where it puts me mentally, if it doesn't happen for others, I'm completely understanding of that.

I'm sure that there are other genres of music that place people in blissful places, and I think it's awesome. We all operate differently to reach similar situations.

some good stuff posted here. i like the darker stuff too and i feel you on the music that takes you to a "blissful" state although it is different for everyone indeed....

i still love my techno but i stopped messing with the rave scene yeaaars ago and haven't followed it much tbh(although i've recently gotten more into uk dubstep). i had no idea they were still doing it big like that with festivals like EDC. looks like my kinda party...i'll have to try and hit it up one year..

You'd be surprised. A couple of years ago when I was visiting some folks out in phoenix, I told them nikkas I was bored of the club. nikkas was like ...
