Report: NY Giants briefed on Ebola before Sunday's game against Cowboys in Arlington

The New York Giants are taking precautions to ensure their traveling party is in the know about the Ebola virus, which has caused the death of one man and infected two nurses in Dallas, according to a report in the New York Post.

“Our athletic trainers and team physicians have been briefed on the scope of the Ebola virus disease," Pat Hanlon, the team's senior vice president of communications, told the newspaper Wednesday in an email. "We have distributed a fact sheet to our employees and distributed similar information to our players electronically this morning.’’

Hanlon emphasized that "nothing out of the ordinary" was occurring, other than providing background information about the disease, according to the report.

"I'm not worried about myself or the team," Giants quarterback Eli Manning told reporters. "With what we're doing and where we're staying, I think we'll be fine."

Two nurses, Nina Pham and Amber Vinson, contracted the disease after caring for Thomas Eric Duncan, the Liberian man who became the nation’s first person diagnosed with the deadly virus, at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital.

Vinson, who was put into isolation Tuesday, will be moved to Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, federal officials said Wednesday, while Pham remains in isolation in Dallas.

“I’m sure a lot of guys with family traveling there are second-guessing if they should allow their wives or family members to go there,” cornerback Prince Amukamara told reporters. “Gosh, it doesn’t seem worth it because it is scary.”

While the Giants are distributing knowledge to their team, the Cowboys haven't directly discussed the matter with players, coach Jason Garrett said.

"Really haven’t, to be honest with you," Garrett said Wendesday on a conference call. "I don’t think it has directly affected us. So it hasn’t been something we have addressed directly with our players.
