I disagree but his argument makes sense, against Hit Em Up lol. With Ether...he can say No Vaseline ended NWA whereas Ether didn't end Jay but still I'd go with Ether. I don't think the requirement for "best diss" is "end someone's career." Lot of people here think Canibus beat LL in that battle for instance...he didn't end LL's career. The requirement for "best diss" is basically...who had the best most vicious diss.

Yea but…in theory wouldn’t the best most “vicious” diss END SOMEONE’S CAREER?

:manny:

I mean...I can't argue against it, now that you put it like that lol. But I still think Ether is better because it's the unexpected knockout blow on a guy who people thought was the champ. He humbled Jay like when Rocky beat up Tommy Gunn. That shyt had Jay on the radio damn near crying. Obviously it didn't end his career, sure Jay kept getting bigger while Nas had less commercial success but it matters more than No Vaseline to me since they were both top tier MCs going at it during a creative peak in their careers. Whereas Ice Cube basically washed a bunch of dudes who he wrote rhymes for lol.

not necessarily. Like Ether didn’t end Jay, but it definitely changed him and he ain’t been the same since. That shyt dug deep into his whole persona and took him apart. Dude was legitimately the most cocky self assured arrogant rapper at his peak and after Ether dude was crying on the radio talking about “that’s vulgar”.

His whole steez changed after that, dude went into “retirement” and started spitting semi-conscious shyt, straight up identity crisis shyt, and then the whole still dropping shyt every time Nas drops thing. There’s something to be said about how it effected Jay psychologically

BUT, Cube definitely got an argument. He took apart “the worlds most dangerous rap group” dolo. Like he said, I don’t even think they made another record. He tore them apart. That’s undeniable. And his dissed were scathing

I get that about Ether which is why its one of the greatest but Cube would have the slight edge considering he can claim No Vaseline DID help bring about the end of NWA (and they never responded)

It would be like Ether being the knockout blow from Ali to Foreman but No Vaseline is the death knell Sugar Ray Leonard gave Jimmy Doyle
