The people casting all the blame on gangsta rap and the people who voluntarily put their heads in the sand and act oblivious like gangsta rap has no influence/responsibility whatsoever (Like Ice Cube is trying to do, disgusting) are both idiots…I can fathom the first group a little more tho tbh, lol…they’re just being too narrow minded…the latter is being willfully ignorant because they like rap, that’s stupid.

“Stop blaming fast/processed/bad food for Americans being morbidly obese! What about mental health? What about poverty!? Those are the root causes, not the food! The fast food industry has made people billions of dollars and provided jobs and opportunities for…” STFU, dummy

I’m happy to see he is feeling the heat and in a position where he feels the need to defend himself

He should just admit he was complicit but not complacent

Yeah, and this is where the likes of Chuck D can rest easy with peace of mind, entering his golden years that his intentions from the beginning was to do right by his people.

Contrast To Ice Cube, he is spending his middle aged years having to answer for the (unintentional) sins he did a few decades ago, and cannot fully enjoy the fruits of his labor.

Early early 80s LA had nikkas pulling around corners playing Zapp & Roger smoking nikkas, he’s right. Funk & Electro Funk was the soundtrack to the early crack era for sure. You can’t blame that music.

BUT, the truth is always somewhere in between. The music brought the busters out for sure, music is a cultural entity so whatever is in the culture, the kids start thinking is the norm and strive to fit that norm.

I’m so glad I knew how to treat gangsta rap back then. I listened to it but I would also listen to BDK. Rakim, Brand Nubian on up to Tribe, De La, Kast, Del and the rest of the hiero crew, etc. Balance was a thing back then… you didn’t have to only listen to gangsta rap even though it ended up being super popular. Cube is still trying to get those prime NWA takes off, but they are not going to work in 2023. That stuff worked then because there was nothing like hiphop when it busted out on the scene. Special Ed’s comments will not end rap, they’re not sending anybody to jail. Why care about his opinion?

I believe Special Ed cleared it up with Daz. I'll post the IG post in a separate thread.
