Detective John Luther is back on the case.

Idris Elba will star in the next “Luther” movie at Netflix, reuniting with actors Ruth Wilson and Dermot Crowley. It’s the streamer’s second feature film, following 2023’s “Luther: The Fallen Sun,” based on the popular BBC television show. Jamie Payne is directing the sequel from a script by series creator Neil Cross.

“Neil has yet again, created a wonderfully dark tale to bring us all back together. It’s a true joy to be back on the streets of Lutherland with the supreme talents that are Idris Elba and Dermot Crowley,” Payne said in a statement. “I am also thrilled to be reunited with the brilliant and dangerous Alice Morgan played by the extraordinarily talented Ruth Wilson. Fans new and old are in for a treat!”

Is the whole series on Netflix now? Might go ahead and rewatch it.

This movie should set up a spinoff set in that universe. People know Luther as a tv show so why not use the movie as a jumping off point to create a spinoff show with a different cast?

Remember he was Batman in the last movie trying to solve riddles and now he's getting his Catwoman/Joker (Alice) back in the sequel :pachaha:

I just started watching the series again recently too.

The first two seasons alone were nothing short of a masterpiece. :wow: The back and forth dialogue between the Gawdess Alice and Luther when he discovered she was the killer was excellent writing.

I’d have preferred Alice didn’t come back and they get a new femme fatale… one that’s younger and actually attractive.

Mind you, Luther and Schenk (commissioner Gordon guy) are the only hold overs that really matter to me.

Hell, killing off DS Ripley a decade ago was a bigger emotional gut punch than their clunky attempt to write Alice off the show sometime later.

Didn't really like Fallen Sun all that much but I'll still watch this one.
