Speaking in very very general terms, yes women do more so cheat because they've checked out or no longer care about the relationship as much
Where as men are more likely to cheat with the idea that the two relationships are completely independent of one another.

Giving any cheater male or female a second chance is risky because instead of addressing things they choose to cheat, now that's in their toolbox and will always be tempted to go that route again, but work harder not to get caught this time.

Some folks really do make it through to the other side though.
