have you looked at the Jazz' remaining schedule? It does NOT look good for them.. too many games on the road

Lakers will probably go 42-40.

Usually in the western conference that doesn't get you anywhere. But if the Jazz fall off, the lakers can take the 8th spot. 7th spot is very unlikely.
