instead of facing Angulo at a catchweight of 171lbs or former 154lber Kyrone at a catchweight of 169lbs Benavidez needs to grab a belt from a LHW in Beterbiev, Bivol, or Joe Smith jr

David Benavidez started the first 3 yrs of his career at Light Heavyweight.

BoxRec: David Benavidez

Now, he can barely make the SMW limit fighting 2 times at a catchweight in his last 3 fights (171lbs, 169lbs and 169lbs)

If he really wants to fight Canelo, he should fight Beterbiev, Bivol and Smith Jr. And try to grab a lhw title.

Canelo’s going to move down to 175 anyway to fight one of Beterbiev/Bivol/Smith Jr after Makabu. David needs to get a LHW belt to force a Canelo fight instead of fighting the Lemieux’s of the world. Thoughts?

That would imply these guys do anything other than fight bums n wait around for Canelo while fans claim they the new boogeyman he ducking.

Canelo is after belts that would be the easiest route to get a fight w him but that would involve risk on Flabbividez part so :mjlol:

Bob Arum commented Canelo team reached doubt for a Beterbeast fight what does he have Benevidez dont?

Look at the first part of that sentence so how do you reasonably expect the second part to happen.

The triple B's should have some type of round robin and whoever comes out ahead should be the challenger for Canelo. At that point if he doesn't want to fight one of them it's clear he's trying to take the easiest route possible.

Dirrell is a bum? I don't know, Benavidez been calling Canelo out a lot, he wants that fight. I'm not sure the the A-side do though.

Benavidez will probably go to 175 soon enough. Canelo might jump back to 168 any minute. He's gone up and down and all over the place the last two years.

Matchups, clen and growth factors are what allowed to do that.

Alvarez not made for those 175'ers (Beterbiev etc). Quit playing. He's never going to fight those guys.

Canelo is great, doesn't mean he isn't dipping and ducking about. Why can't people just accept it?

Canelo is ducking yet he is the draw and he has been fighting better comp than all the guys calling him out. :jbhmm:

Now moving up weight classes and winning belts is a bad thing when historically fighters have gotten props for it, you dudes are wild see thru ya ain't even trying.

Why do all these guys get passes for not fighting each other tho :patrice:

Canelo consistently out here fighting the guys ya say he won't. He fights them and you switch it to another guy and will continue to do so his whole career(which you will be watching because haters are the biggest fans :banderas:)

See you next Canelo thread :umad:

Look. The emoji's aren't going to win you this discussion.

He wants belts, well done, i salute that, they all do. He also wants fighters that pose less of a risk. They all do.

Is Makabu less of a risk than Benavidez? Ofcourse.

Canelo won't fight Beterbiev, Benavidez etc, and i don't blame him. He knows the right matchups.

There's a tendency however for some fans to have a rather intense, perhaps even closeted adulation for Canelo. It overrides any rational shot at proper discussion.

A 200 lb WBC cruiserweight champ vs a 168 lber in Benavidez whose best win is a faded Dirrell. If Makabu really was low risk, Benavidez would've picked up a belt @ 200. He'd rather drag up former LMW's in Kyrone Davis and former MW's in David Lemeiux

Because no one is willing to fight him. Are you people drunk all year long? Lol. Not plant..not Charlo...not Canelo...Saunders has damn near quit...Callum Smith ran to 175 and is fighting nobodies...

And if Canelo is the favorite against makabu, Benavidez is a OVERWHELMING favorite against him considering he has the size to be legit in the weight class beneath cruiser.

:francis:I see looking at the last few years of 160-175 hasn't taught some of you nikkas anything. Canelo so far been the savior or the sport since Ward retired.. None of them other nikkas have done shyt worth mentioning since 2017-18

That's not entirely true breh, top 10 names have been fighting each other at 175 it's just we haven't got Beterbiev vs Bivol yet. But Beterbiev unified with Gvozdyk, Gvozdyk has beaten Stevenson before. Stevenson vs Jack, Browne vs Jack, Pascal vs Browne, Beterbiev vs Browne, Kovalev vs Yarde, Eleider Alvarez vs Kovalev I and II, Smith Jr. vs Alvarez, Bivol vs Pascal, Bivol vs Smith Jr., Barrera vs Smith Jr., etc.
They didn't wait around for Canelo, until Canelo vs Kovalev it was never even realistic that Canelo would go up there

With 160 I agree... not counting the Canelo fights basically everyone fought Derevyanchenko and that's it
168 too
