It doesn’t have to really mention a city or location, can just be a song that plays and every local gon stand up with pride. You don’t even have to be from that state to nominate a song for a state, just post your thoughts.
For example: I always jokingly call Suga Free’s “Why U Bullshytin?” The California national anthem because, from my experience, once they hear “Our father, who art in heaven, QUIK gave me a beat, NOW POMONA’S ON THE SET NOW…” Cali brehdren gon instantly be like:
Then start screaming: “MOMMA TRIED BUT IT AINT NO LOVE LIKE HOMIE LUUUUVVVVV, BABY…”
I spent a couple of years living in Tennessee, (north of Nashville) and been to Memphis, but I can never really say I know it in and out.
Regardless I still nominate Playa Fly’s “Nobody” as its national anthem.
I remember the song, and “Movin On” album getting a lot of love in Atlanta when it dropped. Even some people I knew, who moved to Ga from Memphis, would instantly start rapping Gangsta Blac’s opening verse. shyt is a southern classic I’m sure the Tennessee brehs would have other suggestions.
