Garcia moving up two weight classes to fight Manny, who is clearly the better fighter. Garcia holding a 135 belt hostage, Manny holding a 147 belt hostage. Loads of talent at both weight classes that these guys can fight. If they want to make a cross promotional fight, they should have done Spence vs Crawford Like the people have been asking for. There’s a laundry list of why this is a black mark for boxing.

Why is that?

Manny is a champion in a strong division, but:

• Hasn't fought since July 2019.
• Basically overlooked other champions/contenders for a Connor McGregor fight.
• Agrees to fight Ryan Garcia, who isn't a champion, and fights two divisions below him.

Garcia vs Pacquiao is essentially birthed out of the imaginations of fair weather, casual fans. There's great matchups to be made for both fighters, and to end up here feels like a cheapening of the sport.

I think you’re right. I know Haney is supposed to be Garcia’s mandatory but he was making a fight with Tank then scrapped it for a fight with Pac.
