Today May 8th. I decide to start working towards an IT cert. When will I be making money, if i do nothing but study and prepare myself for the test.

From asking around it takes about 6 months to a year.
Also...from what I heard you want to get your foot in the door with a tech company with it certs when you get them...but it might be easier to freelance before anything.
The preparation for getting certified is everything though...you have to get the basic a networking certifications first and foremost.

What cert and once u get the cert u Cana start working.
Keep in mind that you are black so it's best to actually know what you're doing and go for the highest certs possible so you can be a 6 figgie niggie like uncle mowgli

Really, ill be comfortable with just a decent paying job as long as the cert i acquire actually gives me relevant skills to move up in the world.

My mother was black and she got a helpdesk job without any certs, studied for a year (she had ZERO experience) and got her CCNA...

After that here is network or database administration. Network administration when mastered guarantees you a solid 50 grand and up salary in most western nations. Database administration is kind of an additional skill that a network admin would have
After this you're getting into speciality careers like security, databases, etc. It's good to have the skills.above as a base though because it makes troubleshooting higher level issues easier. Before u turn 30 you should be ready to step to the next level if theé IT field.
There is money here with no degree if you are willing to study.
