that Nore, Fat Joe, Jadakiss, Mase, Jim Jones, Camron, Memphis Bleek and many other rappers became podcasters.

Diddy went to prison

Dame Dash went broke

Andre became a flute player

T.I. became a stand up comedian

Wtf happened? I know these guys made some money. Why didn’t they invest wisely and just age gracefully.

Just started thinking about this because my YouTube is flooded with videos about jim jones and Camron beefing about shyt from over 30 years ago.

I can’t believe we burned our childhoods listening and being influenced by these clowns smh

You think T.I does stand up for financial reasons?

Probably not but he does look like he’s a full fledged stand up comedian now with a special coming out. Just an unexpected left turn from a rapper who was at one point a top tier artist. Not to say people shouldn’t try different things but imagine like jay z doing stand up lol

I was about to say this. Him and Andre3000 are now doing passion projects they are not looking at it as a money grab at all.

Being a podcaster too does not mean you are washed OP it could just be trying to still connect with the audience and culture. A lot more passion projects will be coming out as most these rappers you named are multi-millionaires living well trying to live gracefully.

None of that is surprising. Podcasting is like retired athletes becoming an announcer, stay close to your industry while not being the performer.

Plenty of rappers/execs have gone broke so for a guy like dame who said he wore t shirts once, wouldn’t surprise me

Many of us wanted puffy in jail after the club shooting so it would be nice to know karma eventually caught up

Andre was already weird so being a flute player wouldn’t surprise me

I might have expected TI to go the DL Hughley route of political commentary vs early DL the comedian, that might be the only “blindside”

I agree about Ti and Andre. I just mentioned those because they’re so out of left field we could’ve never predicted it. The podcast shyt does seem like a money grab and it’s annoying how everyone just starts meaningless arguments for the sake of staying in the algorithm. That shyt is corny to me. At least give us some thoughtful discussion or good stories about the past. This hip hop podcast shyt really started with people like combat Jack and has now turned into some gossip/fake beef shyt.

Truth.

The algorithms are going to get more degenerate too. They just gave Charlamagne a payday of 200million so expect open circus in the culture from now on.

There’s very little incentive for old rappers to put out new music. The audience isn’t there for it and in order to sell tickets to shows they have to make it abundantly clear that they’ll be playing almost exclusively the old stuff.
