Toned down the abstraction that had dudes likeand just kept it to real sh1t, would he have been top 5 dead or alive? He had all the tools - charisma, mic presence, flow etc.

Yeah, that Who Shot Ya version ended up being on Mary J's classic album as an interlude I think
Mozart? A better comparison would be Bob Dylan. And even then it's a reach as Keith was never as talented in creating truly smart abstract lyrics/metaphors. MF Doomand Sage Francis are two rappers that do it really well.
Anyway this is not about my tastes, i like Keith just the way he is (no homo). My point is if Keith had been a more conventional lyricist early on would that have generated greater recognition and appeal because i knowa few people who liked him but just couldn't "feel" him like a Nas or Jay Z who are more conventional lyricists..
