Larry Bird is an all-time great for sure. But let's not pretend the NBA isnt prejudice against white players. You mention Adam Morrison he played like 2 seasons and was told to get the fukk on. Jimmer Fredette ain't getting much run either plus he's a guard, who alwayshave a place in the league buthas he been given the keys to the franchise? Nope!!!You guys also mentioned centers. Centers of any color will always have a place

Dominant Bigs >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Dominant wings

as a whole
I feel dat but what i'm saying is that why I know Bird would get his because of his skillset I also believe he would struggle a bit with all these athletes in the NBA today. The same way I don't think MJ would run roughshod over the league like he did but he would still probably be the best. It would just be much closer than it was in the 90's.

just because you're "athletic" doesn't mean you impose more of a challenge than "non athletic" players

Playing D is a skill first then it's supplemented by athletic ability.

Look at the best defensive wings over the last 10 years or so.

Bruce Bowen - not athletic at all
Tayshaun Prince - somewhat athletic
Lebron - athletic
Young Kobe - athletic, D slipped as he got older
Tony Allen - athletic, but not a freak of nature, torn his ACL trying to dunk
Ron Artest - somewhat athletic, very strong with quick feet
Andre Igundala - athletic
etc.. etc..

Playing Defense has always been about your skills more so than athleticism

ryan anderson, gallinari, klay thompson, arron afflalo all averaged 16 PPG this past season.

yet bird, who's better than all the guys I mentioned, is only averaging 16 himself.:why:
larry bird would be no more than Gallinari in todays game

Still I stand by the fact that Bird would struggle a little with getting his shot off sometimes with the athleticism in today's game. You pretty much proved my point because all those guys are above average to elite athletes besides Bowen.

Larry Bird is 6'10 who shoots behind his head. No one is ever going to bother. block. or challenge his shot.
