He'd be food for whatever heel of the month they are trying to push. Rollins and Ambrose as scumbags would work a lot better and WWE provides more TLC to heels than faces. Very IWC of them.

If any two of The Shield should have split off into a tag team, it's Rollins and Reigns. Both of them would be much better as faces while Ambrose stays the slimey heel.

Personally, I don't think the Shield should ever be full on faces (full heels, sure) - at the very least they should keep going after any and everyone, ala tweener (like how they were when the Wyatt shyt started popping off)

Rollins/Ambrose as scumbag heels, stealing wins here and there is perfect - especially when you have Ambrose involved. You can always break the crowd off once in awhile with them facing other heels, so that they can get their fix to cheer them.

If the rumored breakup of them turning on Reigns comes to fruition, then they will be full heel anyway.
