Self publishing is only wack if you don't put in the actual effort. If you actually design a marketing plan and execute it self publishing is no different then going through a huge company. You'll just get more profits.

Don't just send your book out to a bunch of publishers either. If you wanna go the publishing house route you need to get a literary agent and let him do the talking for you. If your books decent you shouldn't have trouble finding someone to represent you.

If this books gets me to the point that I can live and get money from talks and signings and other things then I'll need to spend more time with it
Don't get too ahead of yourself (I'm not trying to be an a$$hole here). It's a really hard field to get into and be successful. For real. Best of luck though

I feel you completely man.

I've had many sit downs thinking of realistic goals for a first time author and things that are just a wish.

I know its hard but I gotta start somewhere

Books don't make that much money breh. Especially not in this digital age. Even if you do see success you should probably stay in school and focus on a subject thats a lil more concrete or that can help you flip that book money. Even full time authors who churn out book after book aren't filthy rich.

Also if i was you i would think about self publishing/promotion. You go that route and you'll get 100% of the profits. Instead of the crappy royalty publishing houses will offer you.

Goodluck. And if you get it published get at me. I'll buy a copy.

Msn you know what :salute: if I get anywhere you gettin a personalized letter.

Breh, your best bet is to get a professional edit when you are done and self-publish that shyt on Amazon, Itunes, and a few other places
at a low price.

That is the route I am taking when I finish mine. Got all the software and knowhow to do the covers on my own. With social media and patience,

you can ride your own wave. The big publishes will come knocking if you do well. If you use them before having a fanbase, they will rape you

as far as what you make. Digital publishing is dirt cheap, and you can control your marketing if you do it yourself.
