"Hip-hop ain't been sh*t since '92" thread, circa 1999.

Funny as hell. But so many rap fans dont even know that there's actually truth to that shyt. But of course they think because they've grown up to something they base their own experience on it & call it better than the rest.

In the 90s people were naggin just like yall do now, only now hip-hop obviously is bigger (in the mainstream) and has been for many years which means theres a bigger audience.

Back then when "gangster rap" became the m.o., all of a sudden everybody was jocking it & people were complaining about it. Just like now, artist work with producer "abc" & makes a hit - next, everybody is on him.

Always how its been. In the 90s people who grew up on 80's hip-hop said that hip-hop aint shyt but rappers talking about bussin guns, cursin, smoking weed, bytches all while grabbing their dikks on stage.

But when the 80s was in it was obviously mostly younger people - which is the root of ALOT of evil in hip-hop btw - who enjoyed hip-hop & related to it, but people who were a bit older grew up on rock, soul, r&b, disco etc were naggin and callin it "not real music" and "just a trend" and them artist/fans of hip-hop acting reckless or whatever - and this includes black people too btw!

In the late 90s people were complaining and naggin about it not sounding like the early or mid 90s.

Come 00's people were naggin about the same shyt..

Hip-hop been like that. The problem and root of it is really POPULARITY - whether it's the popularity of a song, album, artist or whatever. But that's a bit deeper..

Go check a Ja Rule video now on Youtube..watch the comments..and i've always enyoed both his, 50's and other artist music..people saying "at least this was better than whats out now", "i remember those days, MurderInc4Life #classicshyt"..but im sure most people here remember people constantly shytting on him & Murder Inc especially starting from 2001/2002 as he become more and more mainstream. People will say the same about the "dumb music" thats out now as they get older in about 10-15 years..thats how it goes.

But people stay re-writing ALOT of shyt (including here) about certain artists, eras or w/e based on their OWN interpitation or experience..but what it really boils down to is that music reflects a TIME for people..a time where sometimes you wanna rewind back to. So the artist & music becomes a symbol for just that time..and THATS really what you miss..but that means it GOTTA be on TV/radio for it to happen..which again goes to show how media/tv popularity changes people thoughts on things quickly and makes them "forget" all the other shyt (check 2pac & Biggie after they died etc)

really tho

that ain't gangsta

Them Lo Lifes...
There would be threads calling 2pac a c00n for that line "Its the white man I should fear, but its my own kind doing the killing here" :sas2:
If you check the line in context..its rhetorical..

"Snoop Dogg hops on the South coattails for protection after leaving deathrow records.."
