If the Raiders never left LA, would they be the #1 franchise in the NFL?

Think logically

If Al Davis had gotten a state of the art stadium that would marry raider nation and the black hole with super luxury boxes and the amenities we expect now, could the raiders cemented themselves as the #1 football team in the west, in the biggest media market with no shared franchis in town, in the biggest sport, etc,

Think, during that time they would have a superbowl appearance out of LA, they would have an easier time luring FAs, and davis would probably have deeper pockets because of LA revenue vs oakland.

I think they could have surpassed the cowboys as 'americas team' and who knows, if they had a legit qb and coach they could have been the lakers to the patriots celtics.

Maybe the only time a city shouldve doubled down on a team and built a stadium.

I was looking at it more from a popularity perspective. I just cant see the Raiders being adored nationally like the Cowboys or Lakers

Why not? At the very least the bad boy image woulda truly became huge. I wish the Raiders had been able to defend their title against Dallas back in the 70s(We lost to Denver on a fluke play) while both teams were at their peaks in terms of lure and aura. I c/s this thread 100% tho, although the Marinovich debacle and Bo's injury really fukked the team up for years along with lackluster coaching. But although the Raiders fanbase is deep, if they had stayed in LA they indeed would be racking in the revenue of the other top franchises.

But even with that, the Raiders pretty much run the west coast in terms of football. But a return to LA would be a powerful change for the team.

Easy. Raiders, along with the 49ers, Cowyboys, Browns, Steelers are the face of the NFL. It that's the case now, imagine them in a market with 18 million people... Raiders would be worth more then the yankees.

Chill, maybe if Bo never gets hurt, we draft :smugfavre: instead of Marinovich, and Marcus and Al were never beefin. Cuz the team woulda had to win to get that type of wealth. I can't even imagine how great it woulda been for the Raiders and Cowboys to go at it in different 90s Superbowls on some rivalry shyt. We ain't the Bills, nikkaz woulda handled their business.

I dont think their sucess on the field would be much different with the same scouts and Al still making the personnel moves..

Revenues coming in doesnt mean much in a salary cap league where teams share it..It's not baseball where u can outspend everyone if you want to...

Word...a team with deep history in the biggest market with no competition in the #1 sport...?

Imagine the yankees in NY in the 90s if the mets never existed and the dodgers and giants left town still.

The Raiders would be close to the Yankees for sure. The Redskins are just behind the Yankees in Value. Hell the Patriots are not that far back.

EDIT

Cowboys - 1.81Billion
yankees - 1.7 billion
Redskins - 1.55 Billion
Patriots - 1.37Billion

Raiders - 750 million

For sure. But the Raiders with all their problems now are still a national brand. LA Raiders? Front line news in Shanghai.

Exactly. And they would run the Western US let alone the coast for starters.
