I think it should make us focus on a more bottom up style of politics where we work to gain local and state political power but who knows what happens.
But that's what the VRA was about. Allowing black people a seat at the table by restricting southern racist attempts to silence it. If removed it will allow racists to create districts that outright erase black power. Southern black people won't have a voice on the national or state level.
There will still be black influence in other regions on the national and local level. But black political influence or opinion in the south will be over.
My problem is with the sentiment that it doesn't matter what happens, black people will find a way if we just Do Things. You could drop a nuke on black areas, killing 90% of black people and someone would be arguing well we just need to brush our shoulders off and do the work yall. No offense, I just find that delusional. There is no "rebuild" here for the south. If the VRA gets nuked that's a wrap until demographic numbers shift in our favor. Voting harder isn't going to fix things when the point of eliminating the VRA is to dilute black voting power. You vote as hard as you want and guess what....it doesn't matter because your town/city/neighborhood have been dropped into a lily white district where the math dictates you never get somebody into office. If it's removed it will mean that we will have to work harder to get into state legislatures in order to set policies and draw maps. We have to find a way to get the people that don't politically involved.

The FBA family will be ok. This will bring us closer to getting tangibles. What's the bothside position on this I wonder...![]()
All part of their plan. They are trying to make this into South Africa where less than 20% of the population had all of the political power and 90% of the wealth. The Supreme Court’s evident commitment to eviscerating what remains of the Voting Rights Act appears certain to hand an electoral bonanza to Republicans. If the Republican-appointed justices end federal protections for minority representation, as they sounded eager to do during Wednesday’s arguments in Callais v. Louisiana, Southern states can quickly gerrymander Black and brown communities into oblivion. The resulting maps will hand white voters almost total control over these states’ congressional maps, producing a net gain of 15 to 19 seats.
I mean, I think the sentiment isn't delusional. We don't control SCOTUS so if VRA falls we have to do something besides cry in a fetal position. Now using this sentiment as an excuse to be apathetic as he'll is suicidal, I'll agree with that.My problem is with the sentiment that it doesn't matter what happens, black people will find a way if we just Do Things. Fair. I just view the southern plan as being a demographics plan. Black people are migrating back to the south every year. White population is declining. You basically have to math your way back into political power there, in time for the 2030 Census.I mean, I think the sentiment isn't delusional. It sucks but it isn't the end of all Black America, even in the South. Some plan is better than none.
Yup. Been saying this for the longest. The goal is SA style perma rule. All part of their plan. They are trying to make this into South Africa where less than 20% of the population had all of the political power and 90% of the wealth.
White people's last stand.
We need an American Mandela for the 21st century.
