wow...slightly OT but I just read in the LA times he doesn’t necessarily have to reveal who he’s pardoning...so he could pardon himself or his family and it won’t be revealed unless they actually face charges at which point it will have to come up

I don't believe it. It's never been done before and there's no clear legal precedent that would hold it up.
It's not like Trump or anyone in his Administration would be in office anymore, so who would authenticate the pardon? Where would the legal documentation be? It's not like there's a drawer in the White House desk labeled "secret pardons" that someone has to check every time there's a fukking court case.
Think about it, Trump could literally pardon anyone in the country. So if there were "secret pardons", who would be keeping track? You would have to check for a secret pardon EVERY SINGLE TIME anyone in the country got charged with a federal crime.
no need for the snide response...what I read didn’t state it had to be done in absolute secret with no witnesses...just that it doesn’t have to be publicly revealed immediately...as was the case when reagan issued a pardon that wasn’t revealed until 2 weeks after it occurred

I'm not being snide, I'm pointing out the legal issues that make me doubt it can be done. I'm not criticizing you, I'm criticizing the people you're quoting.
Reagan was able to reveal a pardon 2 weeks later because he was still president. Trump won't be president anymore. So who will reveal his pardons? Like I said, is there some sort of secret list somewhere that has to be checked literally every time anyone goes to federal trial?
