I'm still waiting to hear what Facebook-specific issue there is, here.
FB is just another means of communications. Just as you don't give your phone number to just anyone just don't friend just anyone on there and your aggravations will minimize. My friend went from 1036 friends to just 9 friends in a span of 2 months. She says she's never been happier in her life since.

I rarely use facebook, but I only have a few co-workers ( 80% black and 20% white ), friends and family. Nobody on my TL were Wilson supporters.

I only use Twitter for game programming/Science news.

Instagram had to go though. Couldn't take it anymore.
