If we're keeping it 100, people expect TOO MUCH out of a $60 video game

As a consumer, I selfishly want prices for games to stay the same. But when you look at it from a cost per amount of hours played basis, video games are one of the cheapest forms of entertainment.

But the cost to produce games is only getting higher and higher. That's why you have all these "deluxe" editions and microtransactions. Video game companies are trying to find ways to get more profit.

It's an interesting problem to have because the price of the good is fixated in the consumers mind at $60. Peep this "Right now it is 60 bucks but has held there for about 15 years. If the price goes any higher, most gamers would consider it 'too expensive' and would not purchase it. " Fifteen plus years brehs!!

I'd be curious to see a price elasticity curve for video games.

I guess the bigger issue is that all video games are not created equal. When you play some AAA blockbuster titles like Battlefield, you can easily see it being worth the money and then some. But other games you can tell are rushed and not quality.

Considering no one is making a big enough deal over the fact that they charge $60 for even digital software that cuts out the manufacturing costs...

Yes, I expect a lot.

I'd stop expecting so much when they offer fairer prices that compel me not to wait until discounts to justify most games.

I suppose so...then again I haven't bought a game at 60 since GTA v. You wait a month or two and that bytch is already half off. One thing I will say is whatever you do pay for a game it usually has the best value out of any other item or activity that you would spend it on.
