My oldest uncle chose jail instead of going to Vietnam. He was about 25. My dad was still in high school, so 16 or 17 and he was staying at my uncle's house that day. Cops came in at 5 in the morning, grabbed him out the bed and dragged him off to jail 
My grandpop fought in WWII, as did my grand-uncle. My grandpop never talked about it and was one of those grandpops who mostly was quiet and stayed in the den while my grand-uncle used to have flashbacks and hide under tables whenever planes came over the house....until he got back to "normal". So....I can't knock my uncle for not wanting to go to Vietnam
It would have to be an instance where America was seriously jeopardized and the security of our country was in question. I'm not fighting and dying in no war so rich men can get oil or resources from some 3rd world country. Things would have to be dire.
