Was thinking about a CD last night.
Going to continue stacking first. I got money I can put to the side later.
Was even thinking about copping a few notes.
Taxes and variable rates gotta make me do my homework first.
Need to build my hard assets before I mess with the market again.

Why bother with CD's and locking up your money for months or year (s) at a time? Not a worthwhile investment especially if you live high ass tax state like NY/CA etc. Good portion of the earnings will get wiped out in state taxes (~15%). If fed raises interest rates again, you might* miss out on the newer higher rates since your money is tied for 12-13m. I find it better to park my money in short term T-bills (3 or 6m) and save on both. No long term commitments and no state taxes. Why wouldn't you opt for that route instead? Take a look at the Fidelity's (my primary broker) fixed income page and you can find 1y CD paying 5.10% and 3m T-bills paying 4.82%: Fidelity Fixed Income. For that .3% (less than half of 1%) diff, I rather keeps my money free after 3m than lock it up for a whole year. Yes, I know you think/say you dont need the money for the next year.

On the other hand, you can also look at Ally bank high yield CD for 12m 4.25% or 18m 5.00% as of today Ally. They all you to withdraw your money and close your account without penalty if you had to. Not saying you're making bad choices, I am sharing what works for me, what I do and what I would do in your position.

For the first 10K, holla at some US GOVT BACKED Ibonds

these are great as well. I just didn't want to create a new account to send my money. also, my money isn't as readily available if I send it to the govt vs using the savings products at my banks.

Eww, under 5%? I have the friend i met on social media who can guarantee me 80% growth if I invest my life savings of 1k with him and his wife. Just the other day they were posting about the new his and her lambos they got for the beachfront house in Malibu...

And before anybody asks who, it was a joke... please don't listen to anybody that promises you that high a return with a money back guarantee
