If you are a black man over the age of 21 who likes Pokemon. Would you display your love for it on social media?

Would you be embarrassed to show your Pokemon enthusiasm on the internet?

A thought came up in my head looking at all these Marvel comic cats. If you still like pokemon and shyt. Would you put your love for it on Instagram and Twitter like comic book fans do?

Would you show the world your pokemon cards, Poke Dolls and EV trained Entei on the gram?

Or would you keep your hobby and passion to yourself.

If so. Why would you feel you need to mask that part of yourself from your peers? You feel our community has less tolerance for people like that than other communities?

Cause men of all walks of life go all out for the Marvel shyt. Yet cats who do stuff similar to that in our community automatically get placed in the "p*ssy" and "nerd" box.

Guess real nikkas aint trying to be Poke Champs :manny:

I was too old to be into Pokemon when it got super popular but I do love Anime and i’ll post every now and then certain clips of scenes from my favorite anime on Social Media.

But i’m not gonna post every day, every hour, every second trumpeting my love for it.
Anime has gotten popular over the years. Or maybe it's gotten more acceptable to say you watch it.

Above the fray.
OP

The Marvel stuff is only after the Hollywood films popped. People laughed at comic book heads before then. Only after the Spider-Man and X-Men films is it a "cool" thing.

Comic book heads from way back laugh that the rest of the world has caught up .

I’d do if I was making $$$ off of it or are deep into an online community centered around it.

“Mask” is a odd choice of words. I never feel the need to intertwine my interests into my personality, and I’d assume there’s other brehs who feel the same.

where is this coming from breh? RDCWorld, Dragon Con in Atlanta, and The Black Hokage come to mind where BM express their interests in a positive and judge free light.

The Arcadium is a great subforum because it’s just a bunch of brehs talkin’ shyt about new games or tech. A hobby they genuinely enjoy and speaking amongst those who enjoy it too

we’re too hard on ourselves collectively.

I get what you sayin’ but there’s an entire generation of brehs who grew up watching Toonami in the afternoon and a bunch of wrestlers fight in the evening.

I’m confused on what happened in the mid to late 2000s for brehs to suddenly believe the shyt they’re interested in is nerdy

When I was in high school (01-05) anime was accepted, or should I say CERTAIN anime was accepted. Nobody was clowning you for fukking with Dragonball, Yu Yu Hakusho, Inuyasha (basically the Toonami/Adult Swim lineup)

But at the same time that couldn’t be your entire life. I fukked with anime, but also was on the wrestling team, played basketball, messed with girls, etc.

I think it really just comes down to being a well rounded individual. Social media, for better or worse, provides a warped perspective of who a person is. So if your a grown ass man and all your posting is fukking POKEMON all day then people are going to have whatever perception of you that their going to have.
