If you are ugly, will you get complimented on your looks?

I am confused about my looks. I have had women call me handsome and go on and on about how my smile is 'beautiful' and whatnot. Yet, they do not approach me ever. I have a rough-looking countenance so that might be why or women might just not approach guys in general. Who is it that gets complimented on how they look, ugly dudes or good-looking dudes?

Yes. I am Ugly-American, but I have been told I have nice eyebrows, a nice smile, or nice cheeks (facial).

You can still have good-looking features, it just may be a problem that they are put together.

but to say something like that just out of the blue is quite strange and also, i have had people tell it to others about me when i wasn't even there. that is why i am conflicted, i understand the 'being nice' part, but when they aren't even talking to you directly, then it gets more complicated.

Yes...even "ugly" people get complimented on their looks. You know why? It's because everybody has their own idea of what ugly and beautiful is. There is always someone out there that will think someone's "ugly" is beautiful.

If you ask a chick to describe the looks of someone else even if the person being described ugly as sin, they'll say anything to make it seem that they're being nice:

Hes cute for a black/asian/white guy
Hes looks interesting or some other vague sounding adjective
Hes got nice eybrows or complimenting some other irrelevant body part
etc.
