I keep getting rejected for I.T. internships, but I keep getting job offers for blue collar hands on work.
No matter how rough the economy is there is always a need for a career in the "trades"

If you got a job offer for a Blue collar job, TAKE IT

Blue collar jobs can be GOAT. I got a buddy who does maintenance for the city. Makes $38 an hour, gets a company car that he gets to take home, shift starts as soon as he turns the car on and if he doesn’t have any calls lined up, he’s chillin watching movies on his phone.

Always out and about. Not stuck in some cubicle. On some office space shyt.

I think we've been sold a horrible bill of goods that a Blue Collar job is an undesirable way to earn a living. Now we are in a world where so many people the past 15-20 years headed to College to "find themselves" instead of getting a head start to learning a skilled trade where they can eat forever

@semicko82 you said you were offered a Fabrication/Welding job? You better take that breh:salute:

Not sure if it’s considered “blue collar” but I’m a Field Technician and I fix blood typing instruments in hospitals. Got a company car, that’s a 2023 GMC Terrain. Mostly been at home chilling the last month, I think I’ve left for work about 5 or 6 times.

And I’m still tryna to get out and go into the Software Engineering field. Having to hop on a plane and drive everywhere is annoying as fukk. Plus the pay potential in the software engineering field is much greater.:yeshrug:

My company is actively looking to get rid of half our Software Engineers by using AI. It's full steam ahead on white collar workers by Corporate America.

If you gonna make the switch don't go into debt to do it.

More black men need to pickup trades. There are less systemic barriers than there are with the "corporate world". Truck driving, plumbing, welding, electricians, etc. Was thinking about plumbing or truck driving before I turned to medical field.
not necessarily true. even with the trades, u gotta go thru the :mjpls: shyt with the unions sometimes. I've heard of black folks not being able to get enough work hours as an apprentice to fulfill their apprenticeship.

Nothing wrong with a blue collar job, you don’t go in debt to learn them for the most part and a lot of them will be harder to replace in the future.

Most are gonna talk like they’re in the top 3% of earners in tech here because it’s not real life and muhfukkas love to lie, but I respect the hustle if that’s what you’re interested in.
