Above the fray.
In a professional setting, absolutely:mjtf:

An old cac got fired for this last year actually

Somewhat related. Thread put up the other day showing a city council meeting. Retired bubba from the audience got up to speak and refused to address or refer to the Mayor by his title. Kept saying his first name. Have never seen/heard someone call a mayor by his/her first name inside of city hall.

I don’t care. Was in academia for quite some time and then went into a research role in industry. My peer group consists of phd students, post docs, professors, lecturers, research scientists and other visiting academics/researchers. Apart from the students, everyone else would have their PhDs so calling each other doctor is a bit redundant. Always weird when I’m elsewhere (mostly home where I grew up) and someone who knows me calls me Doc.

Having said that, I know a few people with doctorates that get angry if you refer to them otherwise. Insecure types.
Word? I'm academia adjacent (still doing degrees) and I never have encountered PhD holders stressing to be called Doc unless they were in medicine. No Math or Stats PhDs I'm around have been on that time.......but folks do have egos in this realm, guess I've been fortunate.

I have a PhD. The only people that care about being called Dr with a PhD are recent graduates and the insecure. I mean I sign shyt, Ciggavelli, PhD on work emails, but I would never expect somebody to call me Dr. shyt's stupid.

So one of the assistant principals at my job just received her doctorate. I know it's gonna take some time getting used to calling Ms. ___ to Dr.____. But if you got your, would you disrespected if you people called you Mr./Ms..________. The reason I asked is because I know people who are quick to correct you if you don't call them Doc. Or if they're married Mrs. Do you think you would be like that? Or would you care?
@Doctor Doom , @Doctor Wily , @DropTopDoc do any if you wanna issue a statement? :pachaha:

Peer to peer no, in the professional world yes, I’m a Doctor, but off the clock when i bump into staff i tell them I’m just (my first name) when patients they meet me out of work they refer to me as doctor, but if you in the clinic referring to me as mr or my first name, you a lil too familiar or trying to be disrespectful so i correct them, one time a lawyer referred to me as my first name, no sir I’m Dr(last name)
