If you left a city 15 year ago I think it’s dumb to claim that city

Brooklyn keeps on taking it.
New Yorkers give me hell for this but it’s the fact.

a black lady from Texas at my job asked me if she is qualified to be a New Yorker. I asked her how long you been here? She said 12 years and I said yes you are.

it makes no sense that someone that left the city 15 years ago and can’t even vote in their city of birth is calling you a hipster.

If I need current info on NYC that Texas lady would probably give me better details and guidance than a dude who left here 15 years ago.

I disagree.

she could live here 30 years, she is not going to think or operate like a New Yorker. A born and raised Texan is going to have a different communication style and outlook despite being able to adapt to NY.

by your definition she’s a New Yorker. By my definition she’s a New York resident. Additionally, Texans will never accept you as a “Texan”. You are who you are already as an adult. NY shaped certain aspect of your psychology no matter if you wish to leave it behind.

If You Moved Somewhere (Like NY) And You Been There 15+ Years And Wanna Call Yourself A New Yorker Thats Fine But Along With That You Gotta Disclose Where You're Originally From, That’s The Rule

:hubie:

Also The Title Of “Real New Yorker” Is Someone Who Was Born & Raised Here

They already know not to claim New Yorker around New Yorkers because those follow up questions get specific.

“New York resident” is the answer.

I think it's dependent on your age. If you're 65 claiming a city you lived in for 40 yrs thats way different then being 30 and claiming a city you moved from when 8 yr old
hating where you currently live always seem weird to me anyway. if your original city is so much better why are you here :what:

This makes no sense at all especially with a place like New York that is made up of transplants.

I claim the city I was born and raised in which is new orleans. I began my life and grew into the man I am now while living there so why claim any other place?

I still rep Philly even though I live in the Chi for the last 6 years with no plans of going back.

I figure for every 5 years of age, add a single year if residency before you claim that city.

Why it's always the people that have the least ownership and economic interest always going on about who can claim this and that:snoop:
