Gunplay was garbage for a while, dude didn't start getting attention from me until Power Circle, I think Ross or Def Jam kicked in for a ghostwriter.

:yeshrug: Couldn't stand the Gunplay track on DTR and couldn't stand listening to him rap. Once Power Circle dropped I heard it and had to listen to his verse like four times because I couldn't believe it was him. IMO dude was trash for a while but he has been on some other shyt, Bogota Rich and Acquitted were my shyt

First track that got me on Gunplay was Cartoons and Cereal.

It seems to me that William Roberts reached his peak with Deeper than Rap and has now reverted to a better version of himself on Port of Miami.

I wouldn't say he writes for him, but "Bible on the Dash" is better than any Rick Ross song.... If not better, it's up there with Rick's best work. That emotion on that song!!!

i wish he could do 100 songs in that vein, alot of his mixtape material is bullshyt but thats a classic song

he needs Ross to executive produce, and put him in a room with some quality producers. MMG wont be around forever dude needs to get his album (or a high q tape) before fans move on

Gunplay's strengths as an MC are delivery, emotion and passion. Content wise it works best from an emotional/real place with bravado on top. Ross strengths are also in delivery but content wise he's best telling lavish stories. Flow wise Ross is at his best in the pocket and throwing in multi's.
