Deadline Hollywood have revealed that Xbox Entertainment Studios (XES) are creating what’s being described as a groundbreaking interactive historical docudrama series with “The Men Who Built America” producer Stephen David that combines gaming with docudrama storytelling. Each episode of the series will be an hour long and they’re planning around 8 – 10 episodes which will cover centuries of history and tackle iconic true tales from the world’s greatest civilizations.
13 Days Of Blood – Kinect TV?
The first episode is called 13 Days Of Blood and will tell the story of the Roman Empire from the “Gladiator Emperor” Commodus who created 13 days of bloody games in the Colosseum. 13 Days Of Blood sounds very Ryse-like don’t you think? Could the interactive parts of this series use the Kinect controls that were originally planned for Ryse?! These quotes from Stephen David and Microsoft certainly hint at that possibility:

it’s like playing television – true interaction with real history.
Microsoft
The series will weave interviews with scripted scenes, and will also introduce a new, interactive technology that will bring fight scenes to life in a way never before seen in television
A little reminder of the originally planned Kinect version of Ryse:
Fortaleza Glasses??!
What’s even more exciting though is that some things said in the article also hint at the show using a new device! Could they be referring to the long rumoured augmented reality (AR) Fortaleza Glasses? As well as the part of Microsoft’s above quote that says “new, interactive technology that will bring fight scenes to life” there are also these quotes from Deadline that invite speculation:
a groundbreaking new hybrid series. Utilizing still-in-development Xbox tech
It’s still early out on the project, which is eyeing a 2015 debut, and Xbox is keeping mum on the technology to be used in the series.
Still-in-development Xbox tech? Microsoft keeping mum on the technology?? Sounds like a “secret” new device to me!
What are your thoughts on XES’s interactive “Xbox Originals” TV shows on Xbox One? Could some of them not only be using Kinect 2 but also Fortaleza Glasses AR? Does this mean that the Fortaleza Glasses will finally be revealed in just over 3 weeks at E3 2014?
