Not true... I was in elementary school in the '90's, didn't start high school til '99.
Can't nobody tell me shyt about Hip-Hop.
I was 8 when I walked into Sam Goody, by myself, and copped Enter The 36 Chambers.
I had that album before my brother did and he's 10 years older than me.

I don't hate these lil nikkas like that, you can like whatever trash you want to :manny:
Just be thankful you got to experience the era of Yo! MTV Raps, Rap City, Chicago Bulls, Bo Jackson, and pre-molestion black to beige Michael Jackson :blessed:

If I had the option to be a 15-25 cat today and lose all those memories and have THIS be my youth i'd be like :scusthov:

the main reason these youngins dont know shyt about hip hop is because they don't have to buy an entire album anymore.
They get 1 hot single and proclaim that rapper is the GOAT. even though the rest of that nikkas catalog is garbage bin status.
Back in the you day were a 1 hit wonder if you released a wack album but now all you need i 1 hot song every year to stay relevent and you can brag about a single going plat.

the 90's. I was in health class when I heard about Pac dyin. But each era is what it is. This era is particularly low on creativity, but :manny:
creative by what standard? im probably older than anybody here but lets not pretend that every artist from the 80's and 90's was super untouchable nice like that.

there were stand outs then like there are now

nothing has really changed except the sound of the music and the interest of the audience

Maybe cuz I didnt listen to all those bum ass ny rappers, the mainstream guys that were making hits had a distinct sound to them. You werent mistaking a Pac track for a MJG and 8ball track. Now all these shyts sound like Drake featuring Drake. I blame the super producer personally since everyone was going there for a hit record instead of nailing down a sound or using a beat that goes with the song... a nikka like Pac wouldnt last in todays climate with emphasis on club beats. "So Many Tears" wouldnt see the light of day.

kind of my point "so many tears" would be a thing but it would probably never get airplay now. the attention shifted, whatever the reason

the super producer hurt things but cats like jay z and baby money hatting their way to the top didnt help neither
