North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
Including a week vacation and 10 sick days… and you sleep 8 hours a day

That’s 25 years of your life spent working and sleeping. That’s not including the hours spent commuting to and from work.. and the hours spent doing absolutely nothing at all.

And that’s just a 40 hour work week. Some people never take vacations.

And a lot of people who retire still have to work

Are you stating this as a negative cause I don't think there's ever been a time where humans exerted less effort to put a roof over their head and food on the table, than today.

I definitely wouldn't want to be sweating, working double shifts at a factory, farming, etc.

Some people are either comfortable doing that or they're just going through the daily motions knowing it's at least enough to get them by and retire.

I don't won't to work till 65 for some corporation and hope I can get out of it, but I'm not looking down on them.

my mom retired as a teacher back in 2008 or 2009 and has been working part time for a university ever since. so she's still getting her pension and a paycheck double-dipping.

sounds like a great deal to me. she stays busy, and can still travel and do whatever she wants with my pops whenever they want for the most part.

It's a positive, but I don't think it's purely positive. Human beings aren't meant to be stuck behind computer screens for 8 hours. So many of us are tired, stressed, obese, lack proper nutrition, etc.

And I'm not gone lie, I sometimes think about working on a farm. shyt sounds like a nice change of pace.:hubie:

I’m just stating a fact. Do with it what you will.

What is the meaning of life? Working to pay bills. Working to buy shyt that won’t matter when you die. What will be your legacy? 100 years after you’re gone, you will be a distant memory. Not even a thought. What is your purpose? Why are you here?

Your existence is merely a insignificant random event. The sun and the planet you live on exhausted billions of years before you were even a single cell organism and will still be here billions of years later.

People work like that specifically to leave a legacy . It takes 30 years to pay off a mortgage to pass to your kids. It takes a lifetime to pass a skill set to those same kids. It takes decades to save a college education and it takes stability to build a marriage. That is why why people work a stable 40 hours a week until .

Btw, it seems like you might have a personal problem that you need to work through based on those questions in the quoted text above. May I suggest a religion , drugs, or a wife to help ease your existential anxiety?

There’s a reason why so many distractions are created to keep people busy. Why we have credit. Keeps people working to pay their bills. All a distraction to keep civilization somewhat peaceful. If we really had the time to think about all this shot we would burn this place down.
