I was a sys admin for 8 years and been doing info sec/ethical hacking for the last 2+.

Like I said, I love what I do and I'm eating pretty well.

Northern New England salaries aren't as competitive as nyc, cali, etc.

you do realize that like 75% of the population of the united states doesn't even make this salary, yet this is supposed to be the norm on here.

No offense, but your wife's friend probably went to a third tier toilet law school (i.e. outside of the top 14) and didn't make it into BIGLAW. An 8th, 9th year associate will clear well over 200k.

Obviously. A 9th year associate would be eligible to make partner. Still, I don't even think Wachtell offered 200k to its first years.
