In a good relationship submission is a two-way street depending on individual strengths and weaknesses. It's called common sense. Submit to those superior to u in areas they dominate at. Lead others in areas you are strong at.


People muddy the waters with gender battles, ego, power trips, insecurity, hive mind, and other nonsense.
Usually overemphasis on submission and power structures come from individuals who have traditionally had limited experiences with leadership or little control over themselves or others.

Most real leaders never talk about submission b/c people naturally fall in line with them. Why? Because they set good examples. They follow when necessary, treat people the way they wish to be treated, take responsibility for their actions, lead w/o ego, recognize their foundations and allow others to lead them as well.

Confucianism gives some great ideas about leadership when we talk about relationships and responsibilities. There are 5 sacred complimentary relationships: ruler to subjects, husband to wive, parents to children, older sibling to younger sibling, elder friend to younger friend.

The leader in these relationships have a greater burden of submission than the followers do, because they must do so much to maintain their role. So what causes strife? When leaders aren't good leaders, husbands aren't good husbands, parents aren't good parents and so on.
When the leaders in dominant positions become corrupt, they lose the divine Mandate of Heaven which is their right to rule. This is what causes revolution. Subjects turn against kings. Wives and women turn against husbands and men. Children rebel against Elders.

I give these examples to point out the fact that no one will follow you if you aren't a good leader. No amount of proselytizing about how women need to submit to you will make you worthy of the mantle of leadership. It is earned and maintained by integrity and strength, lest u lose the right of leadership and provoke revolution and chaos.
