If you’re old enough to remember R&B in the early 00s, why does Ashanti get disregarded?

I notice this a lot. She’s pretty much irrelevant now and I suppose her association with Murder Inc isn’t helping her legacy at this point. But there was a time when this chick did run the game. Albeit, her reign was short BUT it did happen.

That first album is a contemporary r&b classic. nikkas was legit saying at her peak, she was just a Ja Rule back up singer. :gucci:

I remember when her and Tweet released their albums on the same day and Ashanti smoked her. And I remember Ashanti getting that Soul Train Lady Of Soul Entertainer of the year award. And got like 10 Billboard Awards in one night . And I remember how big of a deal Foolish was.

How sway?? :hhh:

Above the fray.
backlash

she was the first r&b singer that got dragged in modern era for no talent or artistic credibility....she got dragged like paula abdul got dragged in the 1990s.

She had a song called "Baby"...where the ENTIRE song.........was her singing "oh baby"

She was selling records back then due to the def jam/murder inc machine but people said she was making a mockery of R&B
