After canceling her "Great Escape" tour, Iggy Azalea has now pulled out of the "Pittsburgh Pride in the Streets" festival due to growing scrutiny from the LGBTQ community. An online petition was created prior to the concert after members of the LGBTQ community unearthed old tweets of Iggy's that she wrote before her international fame.

Now, the "Fancy" rapper has issued a statement to fans telling them why she won't be performing at the Pride festival, and explained that she regretted writing the tweets as a young person.

"I used words I should not have ... I meant no harm and deeply regret ever uttering those words."

here is the deal with the pride festival. the LGBTQ community in pittsburgh has lots of issues with the delta foundation which is the organization that puts it on every year. the major complaint is the delta foundation caters mostly to a rich white gay male audience and does not donate money to POC/trans/and non cis-gendered LGBTQ folks in the city. after years of this and THEN booking someone like Iggy Azalea who has a history of problematic racist/homophobic tweets that was the last straw and a big campaign was underway to force the delta foundation to cancel her appearance.

simple, in the grand scheme its just twitter. shyt is supposed to be for laughs.

is it smart to put that out in public. absolutely not. but u cant tell me yall dont say similar or worse things with ya homies. Rihanna says similar shyt on ig too, no one speaks on it. Hell half of the music you listen to supports major stereotypes and contains all kinds of gay bashing and race talk. Its all good in a 16 bar verse but in a twitter post its "wrong".
