Is there any good reason that illegal immigrants factor in to determining the amount of electoral votes a state has?

Other than California, most of them are in red states.
I didn't make this thread looking at it from a red/blue standpoint. It's just mind-boggling that ILLEGAL immigrants can factor into the electoral college.
Yeah it's silly. But they're included into the census and that's what they use for Congressional seats/Electoral votes.
