One of the most exciting hockey players of the past decade suddenly announced his retirement at only 30 years old, just signed a 15yr/$100million contract in 2010, he's going to leave $77 million on the table

417 goals, 399 assists for 816 points in 816 games

He led the team to the Cup finals just 2 years ago, he struggled a bit last year but it's hard to judge a player off a half season.

In a 5-6 years it will probably be a blessing but having dude at a cap hit of $6.6mil for the next couple years would have been nice, any replacement player of his quality is going cost close to $8million/yr based on the contracts we've been seeing lately

:pachaha: Zach Parise was the leader of that team. But my kings ran over them so :russ: Dude totally fukked the devils though. Im sure he knew he was gonna bounce but didnt say shyt till now after all big UFA got scopped up. To make it worse they have no 1st round next here :pachaha:

devils have the best GM in hockey and hes def top 5 in overall sports. Lou dont play around, he'll find a way.

This is absolutely true. Unbeknownst to many, Lou hired Rick Pitino to his first head coaching job at a major program when he was the AD / Hockey coach at Providence University. He's an amazing eye for talent, and not only in his main sport of hockey.
