The people that went into the military in my school were either desperate and looking for an escape or slackers with no direction.

I can guarantee you no one who graduated with honors or had a solid family was signing up for the military out of high school.

Well that's just incorrect

You would be surprised

Who ever thought that?
Maybe that applies to some elites that get into one of the service academies , do their mandatory requirement in some cushy job as an officer, then leave the military to go grift gov contracts
The vast majority join the military because they deep south level poor, not that smart, in the streets, or some other form of desperation

I’d even say military personnel, amongst them, are the worst people.

When I served there were people who told me straight up two things,

They joined in order to legally kill people.
When they did go out kicking down doors they described it as being an incredibly euphoric and “fun” experience.

Psychopaths are all thorough out the military.

To make it even worse, they are completely stupid and follow orders, constitutional or not. Did we already forget what happened in Iraq / Afghanistan?

I can guarantee you that you'd be very, very wrong.

:ehh: Depends on what generation you belong to I guess…. I think this would be a stronger guarantee if this was applied to white people

Yeah. There were plenty of honor students in ROTC….. and there were good students coming out of high school who joined the marines as well…

The best way to clear this up is to ask @Robbie3000 directly: Breh, were you talking about fresh outta high school individuals enlisting at a recruitment center or enrolling into a military academy?

I don't have the numbers and I'm not trying to be a know-it-all, but I'm inclined to believe that the academies is where the smarter and more stable 18 / 19 year old individuals end up, especially if they come from at least an upper-middle class family. I'm more than happy to be corrected if my assumption is incorrect.

Why would you think the military would be the best and brightest of Americans though?? The majority of the military are kids who finished high school and had no other prospects for college or work afterwards. No offense to those who served.

I’m largely speaking of the grunts who make up the majority of recruits. I’m not talking about the ROTC students or people enrolling in the academies who are going into the military as a career. That’s the minority of recruits.

Great way to clarify. That should help with the confusion and opposition to your prior post considering there are several avenues to joining the Armed Forces, and that these avenues are usually dependent on the individual's mental capacity and their family's socioeconomic conditions.

Appreciate the direct answer, my G. :salute:

There are good and bad in the Military like most things. My brother was actually in the Marines. Told me about people stationed there too during a road trip recently when we all went to Laughlin and passed by Joshua Tree. Those guys are crazy for sure because there def. ain’t much to do out there. That said, I highly doubt they’d turn up like that on American soil and on American citizens.

Also, my brother is working on his MS Math from a top school in Cali. There’s no one-size fits all for groups of people.

You can’t speak on kids definitively when they’re that young. Many of those people at that age are doing what they can. Same kids who go to college outta high school turn into absolute asshats by the time they’re 24. Fratboy culture can turn docile people into straight “douchebags”. They attend a few football games and off the deep end they go.
