I think the argument is stronger for him being in the top 5 than outside of it.

The guy really has made beats for virtually all of the best rappers around. And those beats tend to be highlights in those artists' discographies

Same here. Pharrel has been using the same tired as synths since the late 90's and he really hasn't pushed the sound forward like Ye. He has mega hits though so that's what keeps him in the argument

Dre and Kanye are 1 and 2 for me. I was just naming potential top 5 candidates sans Kanye. I forgot about RZA. I knew I was forgetting someone. My 3 personal favorites are Dre, Ye, and Blaze. But I wouldn't put Blaze in a top 5 ahead of some these other guys
