I hate to wallow in self pity but my criminal past is really holding me down. Ive made some pretty stupid mistakes in the last few years and its cost me a whole lot (in regards to employment) I just need sum encouragement to help me get out of this funk and sum motivation to keep looking for a job

Hey breh, it will work out. Gotta friend going through the same thing. He is working and was bout to move up to another gig but got fukked by the criminal background check. If you are working, stay vigilant, work hard and build reciprocal relationships with the hope of getting reference letters (i.e. professional and, more important, character).

Edit: I didn't see you were not working. In that case, try to build a relationship with influential mentors. Hopefully, they will be able to network you out and potentially vouch for you when the time comes.

Also, realize you are not alone.

I feel ya bruh, I was that dude at one time too. especially in my late teens and early 20s. I almost fukked up my whole life in that short period of time. But I was able to get it turned around and got most of that shyt esponged from my record.

Early on I had to swallow my pride and take jobs I was over qualified for and didn't want to do, but it paid off in the end. And it made me realize that you will spend years making up for a few hours or night of "fun". shyt just ain't worth it bruh. Keep ya head up and swallow ya pride bruh. shyt will start looking up for ya..

look for government resources. a lot of cities/states have free counseling and training programs made just for you...with placement. id start with the local unemployment office and just ask straight up...
