Not gonna lie I'm nervous about taking it.

you sound smart, i think you'll be alright.

a little unsolicited advice - keep your salary to yourself!!!

people will suddenly need to borrow money and need favors from you. :martin:

also, try to school other blacks onto what you did/are doing. each one teach one fam.

good luck. it makes me proud to hear of young black men succeeding.

can you eventually start your own business in the same field once you get some experience/contacts?

And today after grinding hard in the tech field I got a LARGE job offer I could only imagine I'd get when I was losing more hair in my late 30s.

I just got a 6 figure opportunity for a job more or less what I do now. My current role isn't paying me much and I kinda hate where I live so at least this will give me opportunity to move + help my family out like they helped me in the past.

#BlackExcellence continues. :blessed:
congratulations bro

Actually met a black kid at the gym that looks up to me. I'm in my early 30s, he's like 21. He wants to get in tech. I gave him a rasberry pi with a bunch of accessories, prob cost $80 because he showed enthusiasm.

Only people I told about my money is my immediate family (as in my mother, aunt, grandmother, sister..you know the black matriach, and my stepdad) which won't ask me for money and have been there for me when I was broke as fukk on unemployment.

I try to help others...I donate and stuff but probably should do more hands on stuff. I try and be a good person.

I think in the IT field seeing a successful black male such as myself is a bit of like seeing a unicorn. I had a Hispanic guy tell me in LA that he hardly sees blacks in tech...let alone in engineering roles.

This recruiter that met me remembered me from a YEAR ago and I honestly forgot his face.

Make that money, invest in property, help your family build financial security, travel often

I foresee women being a problem in my near future.

Told my ex about this and we are close but I don't feel we are the right fit for each other but the fact she's a down ass chick I love her for that.

Other bytches tho...

Verbally accepted. Gave me a slight increase in salary and lowered the bonus structure for me which I wanted.

Also they gave me a signing bonus to cover some loss of stock and a bonus I was getting so I'm happy.

Time to tell my boss *sigh*

Great! I'm going for my Bachelor in IT. I graduate next summer but from that IT Career thread I read in the Higher Learning section, they were saying being in IT field recruiters look more at experience rather than education though certs do get you call backs. Thankfully, alot of my classes ends with the certification exam being the final and you get your certification like right now, I'm taking the Network+ class that comes with a certification at the end of the course.
I'm also a federal employee, I work for TSA at ATL airport. I planned to convert to part-time so I can focus more on my studies and look for an entry level job like help desk, etc, so I can gain the experience before I graduate. I also wanna stay with my current job just so when I graudate, it'll be easier to transfer to other federal agencies to get an IT job.
Any advice or suggestions to give a black, Southern, 21 year old, female pursuing the IT? :lupe: you can PM if anything..

Congratulations by the way, love to hear our brothas making it! :banderas:
