I'm just now realizing this, but the 5.7/6.4 Hemi is outdated

Not too sure about the 5.7, but definitely the 6.4.

My comparison is the AMG 6.2 and Ford's 5.0

Both the AMG and Coyote get crazy power from bolt ons. A tune on the AMG and downpipes will add 100hp easy. The 5.0 can get 600hp with the right bolt ons. And both can handle boost without having to upgrade pistons or rods

The 6.4? Tune gains are little to none. Exhaust will do nothing because the engine is tapped out. And adding a small amount of boost will fukk up the engine. I love them new Mopars and would love to own one, but it sound like Dodge been selling cheap engines all along:ohhh::hubie:

Honestly, for about $48,000 you can buy a slightly used E63 (twin turbo) and pay $2k for a tune that will give you over 700hp

lol I watched a YouTube video awhile back that explained this same stuff… it’s kinda surprising because it seems like the 6.4 sells the most but I guess they don’t want those engines cutting into Hellcat sales.

Its always been known, its hard to get extra power out of the hemi and parts are expensive on top of the fact the cars are heavy.

For the price of a r/t charger you better off getting a police Caprice and doing a cheap LSA supercharger (off ctsv) and destroying all the 392s, 5.0's on the street

They still have the 5.7 and 6.4 and I don't think they're outdated.. They're just an updated design.. Same 6.4 since day one, they just update the cam profile and heads. Something with the 5.7. Rotating assembly gets updated some, everything else is updated dramatically.. Thats why the H.P is much better..

Them LSA superchargers was cheap as fck 10 years ago. A ton of them was recalled becauself a cheap $10 part, so they replaced them all with new units, and essentially gave away the old ones. Then word got around you can slap them on other LS/LQ platforms and people bought them up and jacked up the prices to $4k each..

Then they come cry on the Coli about capitalism in their spare time..

I didn't know the price jacked up. I have two sitting around. I'd rather go turbo than pay $4k for an LSA.

I agree with you though, people cry about being poor while actually doing nothing to improve their situation

They are, they taking part in capitalism by jacking up the prices 300%.. Think about it.. The m90 supercharger on the v6 3800 can be had for pennies.. And when the service recall for the LSA superchargers came about, GM sold those superchargers for cheap. Those who bought them cheap took advantage of the LS swap frenzy..

Yea that had a kit to put the M90 on the Lexus LS400, It made that big boat move pretty decent.

The 5.7 been around since the charger was introduced but surprisingly you can get more power out of a 5.7 safety than a 6.4. I used to watch this dusty bro from Texas years ago that put a super charger on a 6.4 and could never get it to run right. If I remember the piston rings in the 6.4 are designed for strictly NA and that's why this can't handle boost. Than again with a 6.4 you are still faster than 80% of the cars on the road

I don't think the combustion chambers are hemispherical anymore since the 70s.

It's just marketing and has been for a few decades.

It's a worldwide engine at this point.

The sweet spot is 04/05 for the 5.7 for me because it's pre cylinder deactivation.

Mopar has always been a niche market for performance. A lot of cars had more power from the factory and were better engineered for power out of the box.
