I'm kind of glad Obama will be leaving the white house soon. Time for someone else to shine.

I love what Obama has done for the black male psyche even if he hasn't done enough for the black population as a whole.

The fact that kids 7 and under have only known a black president really changes the dynamic for what a person can be when they grow up.

Now with that being said, it seems that there hasn't been a chance for anyone else of color to get the spotlight because the #1 seat was occupied at the time. I'm not saying this is Obama's fault, but rather how the cards were played out by the house (house rules).

Anyways, now that Obama will be leaving next year, I'm kind of excited to see what will happen with LOCAL community leaders and whether they will begin to step up in the spotlight over the next 2 years. Local community organizers and the like really have an opportunity to step up from under the shadows and bring light to issues going on in and around their communities. For example, I see the crazy gentrification in DC, MD, and VA and I don't really see anyone speaking on it because, well it's Obama's town so what are we talking about right.. We'll see how poppin the Hill and Penn Ave are next year. But.. in reality, I'm looking at the 2018 congressional elections and 2020 election to have a lot of new black and brown faces as a sort of Obama effect.

Any thoughts on yall local communities?
