Making that move. The houses out there are gorgeous and you get a lot of bang for your buck. I've always wanted the quiet boring away-from-everything type of vibe. I'm aware to avoid Wilmington like the plague. Any tips or things I should know? :jbhmm:

Delaware is more of a family state. For real fun, we go to Philly which is a 30-40 minute ride. DC and NYC are two hours away and Baltimore is a hour. The Delaware Beaches are two hours. So you have multiple options on a weekend. But if you do stay in Delaware, go to Main St. in Newark which is the university area. Tons of restaurants, bars, etc. Of course the crowds will have some obnoxious cacs though. The Christiana Mall area is straight. There’s restaurants, shopping, entertainment. Main Event is cool. The Riverfront in Wilmington. Restaurants, movie theater. Trolley Square in Wilmington. There’s bars, and restaurants. Concord Pike area in Wilmington which has bars, restaurants, shopping, entertainment plus directly over the state line in Pennsylvania there’s more stuff up there too. Delaware is a small state so life is different here. We consider Philly to be an extension of us because it’s so close and interconnected so don’t hesitate to go over there and to the burbs around Philly (Chester County, Delaware County, Montgomery County). Wilmington isn’t all bad either. You have West Side, East Side, North Side, South Bridge, and Riverside. Avoid East Side, South Bridge and Riverside at all costs. You have no reason to ever go over there. West Side and North Side are more nuanced. If you’re on West Side, there’s two main parts. Downbottom (called that by locals, officially West Center City) and everything up on the Hill (called Hilltop). Most of both areas are hood but, the areas surrounding them like Trolley Square, Browntown, the Riverfront and the part of Hilltop going towards Little Italy/Elsmere/Greenville/Rockford Park are nice. Over on Northside, it gets tolerable above Market Street and starts to get nice above Washington Street going towards P.S. DuPont. There’s a lot of nice neighborhoods west of Concord Avenue too that run along the Christiana River (near the Wilmington Zoo). But everything below Market Street is a no go unless you’re familiar with the area. Seriously. Downtown Wilmington is only about 15 blocks. It’s a few cool shops down there but it becomes dead after 5pm. The nightlife in Delaware is not really in the central downtown area but out in the neighborhoods or out in the surrounding towns.

Truck Driver so I can pretty much find work anywhere. And I run a small business on the side.

Oh alright. You should be straight since you got a portable career.

You looking at any spots by the beach? Thier beaches seem quiet. Wilmington probably ain't that bad though. Probably just gotta find the descent parts of the city

I'm not worried about night life and all that. I purposely wanna live in a "boring" quiet type area away from all the bullshyt. But on the few occasions I wanna dip and dabble and get lit, I like that I'm nearby philly/jersey for that at least. And with the cost of living being cheap I'd have more travel money to go to other places.

Delaware has some really nice beaches and the water is constantly tested and the cleanest on the east coast. And the gun laws are relaxed out there too.

Basically what he said majority of Delaware is rural/ small town feel New Castle County is gonna have more of the fun events and places but out of state is your best bet this is actually a pretty great state for business owners too

I'm looking more towards Bridgeville, Dover and their surrounding areas. Living by the beach is more expensive and colder in the winter, so that's a no for me.

Bridgeville is super rural like nothing out there Dover’s a small town and the job market there is ass but trucking you’ll be fine wherever you go

Lots of bars and a casino in Dover if you like that they have some rough spots out there too but not nearly as bad as Wilmington

Then you’d love it. Newark is a big college town. Literally everything you’d want. Bear and Glasgow are typical nice suburban towns. Pike Creek is in the cut and beautiful, you right next to the Pennsylvania countryside and it’s gorgeous :ahh: Hockessin and Greenville are the rich suburbs (where Joe Biden, Bernard Hopkins and the DuPonts live). New Castle and Newport aren’t bad but, they’re a bit dumpy compared to Newark/Bear/Glasgow. They’re older suburbs and more blue collar. Middletown is nice and has developed alot in recent years...a lot of people I know live there now but it’s too far for me. Dover is alright but, definitely too far. Delaware is cool for me right now because it’s relatively affordable. No, it’s not New York City but, you not gonna be bored here. And when you do want to go somewhere fun...you have mad options. NYC. Philly. Jersey. DC. Baltimore. Beaches. King of Prussia. All in 1-2 hours. I didn’t realize how much I took being in the middle of everything for granted until I lived in other states with nothing that was nearby to go to.

Edit:

The beaches :ahh: I remember living right outside of Rehoboth Beach one summer. It was godly. If I ever get major bread in the future, I’m buying a second house in Bethany or Rehoboth.

Delaware is the first state but it doesn't seem to have an overarching stereotype that I'm aware of. Never heard anything bad about the state tbh.
