Told folks a long time ago that Motown let Rick down by not having his back when he stepped to MTV for not playing any black videos.

Just watched the documentary. It was great and gave good insight to his career & life.
A lot of positive messages Rick was giving about being authentic.
the highlights were definitely the prince beef, him really not fully breaking thru until he was much older, burning the girl with crack pipe story, and sleeping in court. Rick was wild!!
Like his band members said, the Chappell Show kinda made him a caricature BUT it also reinvented him to a new audience, he had a new album and was about to go on tour again.

Yeah, that was ridiculous. Dude complained about what they were rapping about when he basically did all of that in real life lol
but yeah I enjoyed the doc. Rick’s entire life before he made it big, being on the run from the army, linking up with Neil Young, could be a separate movie in itself
I’d also watch a movie focused only on Rick and Prince fukking with each other on tour lol
