Right fukking here.....

You said that because Masta Ace and RUN DMC used 808s that it was 'basically trap music'

You literally said half of their catalog was Trap Music?

You are back peddling like a MUUHHHHH right now and trying to throw stray shots to muddy up the water.

I can't fukking believe you think Run DMC's catalog was 'basically trap music'

NYC POSTERS YALL

nikka have u ever listened to run dmc? nikkas could repurpose and rap on alot of those beats TODAY... thats my point. I didnt say they invented Trap. Im saying there sound was very 808 heavy and trunk rattling... Bun B will tell you this. Them and The Showboys - Triggaman is the foundation for Southern music...

Thats not a disrespect to the South... ofcourse they would influenced by the music here it was the only shyt coming out.

They put their on twist on it. Thats what hip hop is about... I made this thread to talk about some NY artist that are doing well and it got derailed into your personal hate. When it's not biting... thats just what all rap sounds like now.

Ofcourse people are gonna stay current and put their regions twist on the music, that's no different than New Orleans bounce taking "Triggerman" aka "Drag Rap" and turning it into Southern bounce music.

Alot Houston music like Scarface and The Geto Boys sounded very West Coast.

The Sauce Twins sound like they from the A. Ot Genesis from Cali sound southern... Jay Elec sound NY. Saying nikkas are influenced by other regions is a moot point. Obviously Bobby was influenced by Keef, but he didnt bite him. He raps and sounds nothing like him.

You just in here cause u had a bad day bro. its all good. But i dont care.

fukk outta here not talking to u no more.

Yes it has.

But who do you think influenced an 18 year old kid to make that type of video.....Chief Keef who was very popular the years leading up to this song blowing up.....or Gravy, the nobody mixtape rapper from NYC?

You guys bringing up videos from when Scmurda is a child are not making any point what so ever. The chance of him seeing the 'I Dont Like' video is 1000x more likely than him seeing a fukking SMACKDVD from 98 when he was FOUR years old :snoop:

If he was influenced so much by New York rappers why he is saying 'Shawty' with a Southern accent? Why is he talking about 'THOTs' when that is Chicago slang? Why is he talking about trap houses when only Southern and Mid-west rappers were talking that way? NYC rappers never went into 'Trap Mode'

It never went out of style

Shorty is not 'shawty' Yes you called them SHORTIES but not SHAW-TIES. That's why I said SOUTHERN ACCENT. And you know damn well it's said in a Southern accent but are playing dumb.

Trap house is nationwide NOW because of other regions, half of new york doesn't even live in a house :snoop:

Thot is nationwide NOW, after Chief Keef and them made it popular, not New York slang. Ever, at all. You guys didn't come up with it. :snoop:

Aint no one going around calling people each other Bulls outside of Philly and the Chicago basketball team's locker room :snoop:
Please link me to Shmurda saying shortie in a Southern accent? Please, shortie and shawty is the same shyt...

So you're agreeing thot is nationwide right? I mean it's a mainstream word. It came out of Chicago so that means we can't use it? Also, we can't use trap house even though drug spots nationwide are called trap houses? But people everywhere can say it's lit and facts right?

Basically, what you want us to do is get back to saying word is bond, rap over soul and jazz samples, wear bubble coats and Timbs like it's 1993? Copy.

Go listen to the song :snoop:

So I am supposed to believe that a kid who used slang (THOT) that was started in Chicago in his song wasn't influenced by anyone in Chicago but was influenced by rappers like Gravy, instead?

I don't care what you guys do or wear. Just that you stop acting as if no other region influences you guys.

y'all make this weak ass thread every year. :laff:

You have no idea what's dope or what will pop off. As you cosign garbage, a guy like Pretty Flacko comes outta nowhere by going left and innovating. Then that confusion, sweet hate and anger come out :banderas:

The least wack on here is Young Ma, but even she's scared to be herself or try anything bold. She still :russell: for now until she gets better production/vision

I don't hear a Southern accent you acting like ole boy sounds like T.I. saying shawty in ATL or some shyt...

:stopitslime:

The claim you made was Bobby was biting Keef.

-Even though his style is nothing like Keef's you're comparing a straightforward street spitter like Shmurda to a mumbling, harmonizing, auto tune using Keef. Outside of violent lyrics their styles are nothing alike from a delivery or lyrical perspective.

-His beat selection is driven by the 808 heavy Jahlil Beats sound a guy who is go-to for Lloyd Banks and Meek Mill. The Hot Nikka beat was initially a Lloyd Banks throwaway. Bobby and Rowdy are self admitted Meek Mill stans, particularly in his Flamerz era.

-His video is apparently an outdoor Don't Like. Even though in the hood through Smack, Cocaine City, We Mobbin or any street DVD you could see videos like that. That shyt was prolific in the YG and YB'z era of NY but you wouldn't know that since you're not from here. Chicago nikkas in 2012 were dressing and shooting videos doing shyt we were doing in 2009 word to @DMGAINGREEN

I have no problem stating we have influences. A Boogie with da Hoodie is very Drake influenced, Desiigner is very Future influenced the trap sound is popular nationwide as even California rappers like OT and Mozzy spit over trap shyt.

Ok breh, if you want to act like he isn't saying SHAWTY that's on you. To the rest of us though, that isn't an New York accent lol.

His style is a lot like Keef's early shyt....he runs trap houses, fukks thots....now if you are trying to compare Chief Keef NOW to him? Nah cuz that money and drugs got to him but the influence is there.

Whether Jahlil Beats did the track or not, it does not have a New York sound to it. The patterns which is a weak Juvi 'Ha' flow, the fact that the high hats are louder than the drums themselves, the slang, none of it NYC.

When Smack and Cocaine City DVDs were POPULAR, he was in elementary school. When he started to come of age and around the time he supposedly started rapping, they were NO LONGER AROUND. He was born in 94 and those SMACKDVDs were popular in 2001/2002.

Again....you want me to believe he was influenced by SMACKDVDs when he was in elementry school but when he clearly is taking Chicago slang and style, you want to completely ignore it.

Mozzy and OT do sound like Down South rappers.....a lot. Nothing about OT Genesis sounds like a rapper from out here. Which is why you don't see me being like 'Oh hes talking about selling coke? Well here is a video about a rapper from LA talking about coke in 1992.'

Nah, too big shoes to fill. Think of how big of an Artist you gotta be coming outta NY.

nikkas literally gotta follow in the footsteps of 50, Jay, nas, and countless others. This ain't it. And as a city, NY in whole won't ever jump behind a Bronx nikka :yeshrug: that's just how it is.

If you ain't from Brooklyn or Queens:camby:

I dapped your comment because it's an interesting observation. Is that really true though? Didn't hip hop get behind Pun, KRS-One and Slick Rick?

Oh? He didn't make drill music popular? I guess Bobby Schmurda got his sound from Fabolous then

I remember when New York videos looked like New York videos. Not like this, an outdoor version of 'I don't like'

Play both videos at the same time :dead:

Gymnastics won't allow these nikkas to see the obvious. If you can't tell that Hot nikka sounds/feels like a Keef record, I dunno what to tell you.

I don't think @SirBiatch and I ever agree but you guys should have rallied around ASAP Rocky.

Again, I understand the low budget hood video......but that's not what his was. This you can tell was shot in front of a housing project on a shyt video recorder....Schmurda's wasn't.....Bobby Schmurda had a legit camera crew out there, the remix wasn't even shot in NYC......

I don't get how you guys are trying to tell me that NO NAME guys from 5 years before the song came out were the direct influence but one of the biggest songs that came out right before Schmurda did, where he is using their slang, had no influence?!?!
